Gents,
today I would like to share wih you a little handmade tools that offers an easy, effective way to clean cases prior to putting it through the reloading process. If you can’t spend lots of money for thumblers, this tool could help you !! 😉
First of all I would like to thanks a very good shooter that originally suggested me the idea: Paolo Fanton. You can read Paolo’s posts on www.thegunner.com
OK ! Now we are ready to start !!
Please consider that if you want to clean primer seat, you must deprimer the cases before wash !!!
STEP #1: What do you need to make your homemade thumbler.
You need only few items: an old jeans pairs, a zipper and a safety pin.
STEP #2: Create the case.
Take your old jeans (check for holes !!! We don’t need any hole !!), and cut a leg portion: the size must be estimated on numbers of cases you want to clean in the same time…don’t take an entire leg !!! 🙂
STEP #3: Closing the case.
Now you have a jeans tube that must be closed on one side. Sew one side (choose one) in order to have a very robust seam. During the washing process we don’t have any brass case into the washing machine !!!
STEP #4: Adding the zipper.
On the other side sew the zipper over all the width of your “brass pocket”. This is the side used to load and unload cases before and after washing.
STEP #5: Safety close your pocket before start.
Load your brand new handmade thumbler with some cases, close the zip and safely pin it (with the safety pin) on jeans case. This is needed to avoid the case opening during washing.
STEP #6: Check washing machine availability.
Contact softly your wife (or your girlfriend) and ask if it’s all ok. Speak with her about the sun, the flowers and the next vacation. If she feels good, softly ask her if you can use the washing machine for a very short period. Don’t be surprise if she says “YES” and request you to wash tons and tons of linen. In this case try to explain her that case contains a lot of black dust and you can blot all !!! If you need to wash cases and linen, pay attention !! 🙂
STEP #7: Start washing.
Put your handmade thumbler into the washing machine, select 60 °C (140 °F) and a program that wash for about 10 mins and start it !!!
STEP #8: Finish!
When the washing finish, remove your handmade thumbler from washing machine (pay attention…could be hot!), remove safety pin (pay attention!!) and open the zipper. Put your cleaned cases on a box and leave it under the sun….or under your phone…or dry one by one…as you want !!
Finish !!!
